MÊRDÎN – The death toll has risen to four in a summary execution that took place in the town of Kızıltepe yesterday, when special operations police raked a car with gunfire.

Yesterday, special operations police posted in the town of Kızıltepe, in Mardin province, raked a moving vehicle with gunfire from their armored car in the Turgut Özal neighborhood. Four were killed in the car, while one person was detained in the incident.

One of the four, it has emerged, was Cengiz Erdem, an area director of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP). Cengiz’ younger brother, Aydın Erdem, had been slain by police in Diyarbakır.
