ŞIRNEX – In the town of Cizre, a citizen named Abdulselam Yılmaz has been killed by shrapnel from a shell that landed near his house. A 90-year-old woman is trapped under the rubble after the shelling.

For 31 days, Turkish state forces have maintained a blockade in the town of Cizre. Another resident has died in the blockade today. Abdulselam Yılmaz was outside his house in the Nur neighborhood when a shell struck a nearby building, killing him. Abdulselam’s body has been transported to a nearby house, as a hearse has been unable to enter the neighborhood.

A 90-year-old woman identified as Hayriye was trapped under the rubble in the same shelling. Hayriye, who has difficulty speaking and walking, is trapped under the rubble, but local citizens have been unable to evacuate her because of the ongoing state attacks.

Meanwhile, the family of Mehmet Şirin Erdinç, killed when special operations police opened fire on him on January 9 in the same neighborhood, retrieved his body. Mehmet Şirin was buried in the village of Kırız today.
