ŞIRNEX – Two more deaths have occurred as the Turkish state continues martial law in the towns of Cizre and Silopi. 52-year-old Narınç Kızıl died of a heart attack and was unable to get medical attention in Silopi; 85-year-old Leyla Elsuyu froze to death because electric had been cut in Cizre.
For 32 days, Turkish state forces have maintained curfews and a state of martial law in the towns of Cizre and Silopi. The state’s prevention of basic medical attention continues to be deadly.
Leyla Elsuyu (85) lived in the Cudi neighborhood of Cizre until state forces razed her house. Leyla had to move to the Dicle neighborhood. Leyla had existing health conditions and had previously been hospitalized. On Wednesday night, Leyla’s condition worsened due to the extreme cold in the neighborhood, where electricity and water has been cut off. She lost her life and was buried yesterday by her family in the garden of a nearby mosque.
Meanwhile, 52-year-old Narınç Kızıl, a resident of the Nuh neighborhood of Silopi and mother of four, began feeling ill on Tuesday night. Narınç had a heart attack. Ambulances were unable to reach her for two hours due to the state attacks. She was rushed to hospital in the city of Batman, where she lost her life.
Narınç’s body is being kept in Batman, as the blockade prevents the body from being brought back to Silopi.
