ŞIRNEX – The Turkish state’s martial law continues in Cizre. Special operations teams have shot and wounded a woman named Helin Öncü.

The town of Cizre has now entered the 39th day of a state of martial law. The day began with attacks again. Yesterday, a group attempted to enter the Cudi neighborhood to retrieve the wounded and dead bodies after the state attacks. State forces opened fire on the group, wounding 12. Last night, tanks escalated their bombardment of the neighborhood.

Attacks are continuing on the Cudi and Nur neighborhoods from state forces positioned on Nusaybin Avenue, with the civil defense units YPS responding. The Sur neighborhood has also come under heavy tank assault.

This morning, armored vehicles raked the neighborhood with gunfire, wounding 20-year-old Helin Öncü. Citizens evacuated Helin to a nearby house for medical care, as the intense attacks make it impossible to take her to the hospital. It has emerged that Helin is a university student who came to the city on a visit, but was unable to leave because of the intensity of the attacks.
