ŞIRNEX – With the Turkish state’s martial law in the town of Cizre ongoing, a resident named Cihan Karaman was wounded yesterday. The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruled that Cihan must be guaranteed medical care, but state forces continued artillery fire on ambulance access points.

Yesterday afternoon, Turkish state attacks on the besieged town of Cizre left university student Cihan Karaman wounded. Special operations police shot Cihan in the chest, then maintained attacks, thus preventing residents from taking the young man to the hospital.

After lawyers applied to the ECHR about Cihan’s condition, an injunction from the court specified that Cihan must receive treatment. However, as an ambulance attempted to retrieve Cihan yesterday evening, Turkish state forces continued to bombard all ambulance access points in the area with artillery fire.

Meanwhile, a resident named Veli Müjde, wounded when a shell struck his house one week ago, passed away in the hospital yesterday.
