AMED – Police in Diyarbakır shot student Sidar Ekinci on December 25 in the city of Diyarbakır. Sidar has passed away in hospital.

According to reports, university student Sidar Ekinci and his cousin Uğur Altan were walking outside the N City mall in Diyarbakır on the evening of December 25 when a Ford Ranger truck pulled up alongside them. Police opened fire from the truck, wounding Sidar and arresting his cousin (later released).

Sidar, in intensive care in a Diyarbakır hospital for more than a month, passed away today.
