10-year-old child shot in Diyarbakır

AMED – As police attacked a protest on the anniversary of the abduction of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan today, a 10-year-old child was shot.
Citizens of the city of Diyarbakır attempted to hold a march to protest the 17th anniversary of the abduction of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan today when police intervened. Police entered the Bağlar district in Ford Ranger trucks, then raked the streets of the neighborhood with gunfire from their vehicles.
Ceylan Çakmak (10) was on the balcony of her home on Sento Avenue in the Bağlar district when she was struck by a bullet fired into the air. The bullet reportedly struck Ceylan’s cheek and exited through the nape of her neck.
Ceylan is currently in serious condition at Bağlar Hospital.
