MÊRDÎN – Nusaybin women reacted to news reports claiming that “all residents have left Nusaybin." "They should look our history of resistance. We are here. We will stay in our homes and we will resist to the end. Whoever writes these lies must leave this place," said the women, who stressed that they would continue to defend their homes.
The Nusaybin district of Mardin has been under blockade by Turkish state forces for several months. Various media outlets have recently run news claiming that people in Nusaybin are leaving their homes. However, Nusaybin women stated that they would never leave their homes and their neighborhoods. "We are here; we won’t go anywhere," said the women.
Hayat Aktaş, one of the women in Nusaybin, said, "They have to come here and see if we left our homes. We are in our neighborhoods. We won’t go anywhere. There's no other way for us than resisting and protecting our land."
Melek Kavak, stating that people with honor will never leave their lands, said, "Erdoğan and the AKP must know that we will never leave our youths, and we will resist with them to the end. Tens of thousands of people stay in their homes in Nusaybin."
Emine Koç, meanwhile, said that they would never give up on resistance. "They say that all the people have left Nusaybin. They must look at the history of Nusaybin first. If they look at its history, they'll be a bit ashamed of their lies. Nusaybin will resist to the end. We will keep our promise to our Leader [Abdullah Öcalan]," said Emine.
