Turkey issues punishment for smuggling, not death of baby Alan

NEWS CENTER - Baby Alan's image made global headlines after he drowned on September 2, 2015 off the coast of Bodrum, along with four other people. Two defendants were convicted of "human trafficking" and issued sentences of four years, two months each.

A boat sank off the Bodrum coast district of Muğla on September, 2015. Alan Kurdi and four people lost their life. Two suspected people smugglers charged with causing the death of five people. The 3rd hearing of the court case was today. Mufawaka Alabash and Asem Alfrhad were convicted of "human trafficking', not death of five people. The court board reached the conclusion that two defendants don't cause death "through deliberate negligence". Mufawaka Alabash and Asem Alfrhad were convicted of "human trafficking" and issued sentences of four years, two months each.
