'We will continue to keep the struggle of Bişeng alive'

ŞIRNEX - State forces had taken into custody Bişeng Anık in Şırnak Newroz in 1992. They tortured her to death in detention. Bişeng Çakır (nom de guerre Derya Botan) was named Bişeng's firstname and joined the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) to fight against Daesh' gangs. She passed away in 2014 in the Ceza town of Cizîrê Canton. "We will continue to keep the struggle and name of Bişeng alive," said Bişeng's mother Beritan Çakır.
Bişeng Anık had been taken into custody in the Şırnak Newroz in 1992 by state forces. They tortured her to death in detention. Bişeng Çakır (nom de guerre Derya Botan) was named Birşeng's firstname by her family. Bişeng Çakır carried the Bişeng's spirit of resistance to 2014 and joined the YPJ. Bişeng Çakır passed away while she was fighting against Daesh' gangs. Her father talked about the story of her daughter Bişeng;
"She always went to martyrs' cemetery of the People's Defence Force (HPG). She told us that she felt different there. We weren't like father and daughter. We were like friends. We were together all time. We took a walk to mountains everyday. Even, she slept with me. She told her mother "I am the guard of my father,"
"One morning, I woke up and I didn't find Bişeng. She asked me to use my phone the night. When we woke up, Bişeng had gone already. Bişeng grew up on mountains. If she was alive now, she wouldn't keep silent against the massacres. She would riot."
Bişeng's mother Berivan stated that Bişeng had told her, "I will go to mountains, I will be like Delila." before she joined YPJ. Berivan said, "I named my grandchild after my daughter. We will continue to keep the struggle and name of Bişeng alive. I named my grandchild after my daughter to follow the path of Bişeng."
