AMED – Meryem Bekmez, who is an athlete in Kayapınar Municipality Team, has become the champion of Balkan in 5 metres walking in this year’s Balkan Athletics Championships which is held in Czech Republic.

Meryem Bekmez, who is an athlete in Diyarbakır’s district Kayapınar Municipality Team, claimed the first gold of the Balkan Athletics Championship which is held in Czech Republic as she dominated the 5 metres walk to become the first to officially complete the distance in under 22.53 minutes. Meanwhile, Ayşe Tekdal, who is also an athlete in Kayapınar Municipality Team, comes in third in the race.

Co-mayors of Kayapınar Municipality M.Ali Aydın and Fatma Arşimet congratulated the athletes, their trainers and the managements of the club.
