SHENGAL – Ezidi people, who have been subject to 73 atrocities in their history, celebrated Çarşema Sor (Red Wednesday) enthusiastically for the first time after Daesh gangs’ attacks. Journalists were excited to witness of Ezidi people’s enthusiasm.

Ezidi people made the preparation of Çarşema Sor many days ago. Çarşema Sor was celebrated by hundreds of people. After the edict on August 3, Ezidi people celebrated the most important day together. As the members of the YJŞ, YBŞ, YJA-STAR and HPG participated in the celebration, hundreds of people came together for the feast. The people came to the celebration area by shouting the slogan “Long live the resistances of Shengal”. Everyone got in their cars. We passed in front of Zerdeşte camp. I was interested in the silence of the camp. Then, I learnt that the people had gone to celebration area for the feast. We arrived to the celebration area.

Everyone got dressed according to the culture of Ezidi people. Everyone tried to go near the stage. We followed the people. Everyone tried to find a place near the stage. But, the children checked everywhere to be close to the stage. I was excited to the colored eggs, too. Ezidi people accepted the eggs as culture, because they resemble the shape of the world. There were the logos of the PKK, HPG, YJA-STAR, YJŞ and YBŞ on the eggs.

The celebration began with stand in silence for those who lost their life. The people, who came from another place, wished happy Çarşema Sor to the Ezidi people. After the speeches, the surprise flag of Ezidi Assembly attracted attention of all people. The people began to shout slogan “Long live Leader Apo”.

The celebration continued with music, dance and activities. After the edict on August 3, Ezidi people celebrated the most important day together enthusiastically with peace for the first time. One of people was sitting. He lost his two legs while he fought against Daesh. Everyone felt stronger when they saw this man. Ezidi people distributed the colored eggs which are called as colorful worlds. It was exciting to see Ezidi people so enthusiastic for the first time.
