Cities demolished, Kurds resist

NEWS CENTER – As state forces have made unusable the city centers, districts and neighborhoods by implementing burn-demolish policies, Kurdish people, who don’t leave their lands, have continued to resist by forming their self-defense.

After self-government was declared in Kurdistan in accordance with the demands of Kurdish people, the attacks of state forces have continued nonstop in Kurdish cities and districts. State forces have made unusable the city centers, districts and neighborhoods where “curfew” was declared by implementing burn-demolish policies. Meanwhile, Kurdish people don’t want to leave their lands so they have resist against tanks and mortar fire with their self-defense units YPS/YPS-JIN.

MARDİN

Genocidal attacks and siege which were declared under the name of “curfew” on March 14 have entered in the 40th day in the Nusaybin district of Mardin. Clashes have continued nonstop in the neighborhoods. Armored vehicles deployed around Abdülkadirpaşa neighborhood have targeted civilian houses with artillery and howitzer fire. And armored vehicles deployed around old hospital raked the neighborhoods nonstop. The YPS/YPS-JIN members responded the state forces attacks. According to reports, state forces, who tried to enter Şirin and Kanarya Streets, suffered losses and retreated while they faced the strong resistance from the YPS/YPS-JIN members.
All the workplaces on Cumhuriyet Avenue have been burnt down by armored vehicles. State forces destroyed the graves of the YPS/YPS-JIN members.

ŞIRNAK

Clashes have continued in the center of Şırnak.

Turkish state forces' genocidal attacks under the name of “curfew” have continued in Şırnak for 39 days. The Yenimahalle, Cumhuriyet, İsmetpaşa and Bahçelievler neighborhhods have been hit with howitzers since yesterday evening. Smoke rises from the neighborhoods where many houses and stores have been demolished. Armored vehicles deployed around Vakıfkent neighborhood have attacked the Yeni and Bahçelievler neighborhoods with A-4 weapons since noon.

Nonstop clashes have lasted in Yenimahalle and İsmetpaşa neighborhoods for five hours. According to local sources, many special forces have been wounded in the clashes. However, no information has been obtained about the number of casualties.

Turkish UAV activity over the city has also intensified during the past 2 days with the participation of Herons in addition to Drones. 23rd Gendarmerie Border Division Command is witnessing a remarkable mobilization of helicopters.

SİLOPİ

Curfew, which was declared to punish people, has continued for 18 days. Hundreds of houses in Başak and Barbaros neighborhoods have been torn down since the latest curfew was declared. As the demolition in both neighborhoods have continued, residents are being forced out of their houses and move to other areas where people on the other hand suffer a lack of basic needs such as supplies and foodstuff.

Residents of Başak and Barbaros neighborhoods have recently moved to their relatives in Dicle, Ofis, Yenişehir and Cumhuriyet neighborhoods. At least 15 people are sharing a house in these areas at the moment. The people especially those with a chronic disease, are also suffering a lack of medical service with pharmacies remaining closed since the first day of the curfew.

Meanwhile, four people have been detained by special forces during house raids in the Cumhuriyet neighborhood. The names of detainees are; Mizgin Gelgi, Faysal Ayna, Lokman and Yakup Erol.

CİZRE

Special operations teams conducted raids in the morning on houses in the Cudi and Nur neighborhoods of Cizre where martial law attacks have continued for 79 days. No one know whether people have been detained in the raids.
