Women, who live in the Kobanê Canton, have pioneered the self-communal economy in nature life by planting vegetables against the embargo that has been imposed by the AKP government. Kobanê women said that they have rich soils and they don't need anyone else.
Nûrê Mihêdîn (45) is one of these women. Her family and her neighbors have begun to plant vegetables and grass with the coming of spring. Nûrê said that they do everything together and collectively.
We have water and rich soils. We'll open a door for ourselves. "We are picking up the some vegetables. We work together with our neighbors to maintain our life. The borders of Turkey and Iraq have been closed for long time. We have put the bread on the table by planting vegetables. We have formed a communal economy. We have water and rich soils to open our doors."
Weca Ebdrehman is another woman. She said, "I planted parsley, bean, garlic and lettuce. We have to plant vegetables to maintain our lifes. We don't expect the borders will be opened. We have opened our doors by ourselves. We hope that all people make effort to form their economy with agriculture. Our lands are enough for us. We don't want anything more."
