AMED – Barter market has been put into practice by Amed Ecology Assembly. Çilem Akkaya from Amed Ecology Assembly told us the aim of the barter market and the method of putting the Communal Economy into practice. “We formed barter market to put communal culture into practice. In the past, the people used barter markets. We want to put this culture into practice even if partially. Sharing makes everyone feel good. Everyone must feel the wealth of sharing.”


Amed Ecology Assembly has brought to light the life on the barter system that was practiced in the past. The barter market, which is put into practice by Economic Commission, has been the center of interest of the people. Members of Ecology Assembly evaluated the aim of the bartering system and how communal economy put into practice with bartering system. Çilem Akkaya from Amed Ecology Assembly addressed that communal economy is based on the paradigm of democratic, ecological and women’s freedom society. She said that economy needs to return to itself and it must be brought to the level of a social field in real terms.


Communal economy is a democtaric system that determines the needs of society and wuantities and characteristics of these needs, said Çilem and she mentioned that there are two main areas of the economy. These areas are production and consumption. Çilem said, “If social control is provided on both areas, the economy will be fully under control. There is no need the state’s law and regulations that time. When communal economy is democratic and under the control of society, policies and measures are determined by community within the framework of the economy law. Everyone join commune-cooperatives within the framework of this law.

Meral Atançuban from Amed Ecology Assembly, meanwhile, said, “The people are believed that “You are the owner of everything.” The capitalist system is trying to be alive by convicting the society to itself. People live in isolation due to the capitalist system. We are trying to break this isolation by forming the barter market.”
