WAN- Journalist- author Pelin Cengiz and the Ecology Movement member Nuray Yüce pointed out the importance of acting together in the cities of Kurdistan where the AKP government’s demolition projects are ongoing. They emphasized that the ecologist organizations should develop a collective struggle by working together to prevent the demolition policies of the present ruling.

As the AKP government’s demolition projects are ongoing under the name of "urgent expropriation" in the cities and districts of North Kurdistan, Making TOKİ (the division for state housing) in the evacuated cities and districts come to the fore. As many historical sites have been destroyed in the cities, particularly in Sur, Silopi and Cizre, the state is preparing to build TOKİ in these places. Journalist- author Pelin Cengiz said that TOKİ will cause many problems on the nature. Pelin pointed out that the TOKİ is a public corporation that meets the housing needs of low-income families. However, the ruling people use the TOKİ as a tool to make the rich even richer, the poor even poorer. “After the operations were ended in many cities and districts, particularly in Sur, urgent expropriation was declared in these cities and towns by cabinet decision and the TOKİ has begun to build.

“The experts must be brought to region. They must make an examination and prepare a report and discuss the report. The pressure should be imposed on these issues to the ruling. The people those who were displaced due to clashes, should be talked to return their homes.”

The Ecology Movement member Nuray Yüce stated that the war has been carried out by the AKP government on Kurdistan is destroying the natural life. Nuray said, “The war has been carried out by the Turkish state on Kurdistan is destroying the natural life, including water and forests. The war is the biggest ecological catastrophe. The ecologist organizations should develop a collective struggle by working together to prevent the demolition policies of the present ruling.
