ADANA – Çilem Doğan killed her abusive husband Hasan Karabulut by using her right to self-defense. The trial was held today. As the matter was postponed to June 8, the prosecutor demanded the judgments of “unjust provocation” not “self-defense” to be implemented.

Çilem Doğan was arrested for killing her husband Hasan Karabulut who repeatedly beat her and tried to force her into prostitution in Adana. Çilem asked, ““Will women always die”. The 3rd trial of the case was held today in Adana 10th High Penal Court. Çilem connected the trial via SEGBIS (Audiovisual Communications Systems) from Tarsus Women’s Prison.

The prosecutor demanded Çilem to be tried from “Intentional murder” by saying Çilem was subjected to “domestic violence”. The prosecutor demanded the judgments of “unjust provocation” not “self-defense” to be implemented. Meanwhile, lawyers of Çilem demaded the judgments of “self-defense” not “unjust provocation” to be implemented.

The trial was postponed to June 8.
