WAN – Another “Mother’s Day” is coming on the territory of Kurdistan where always there are pain and tears. Mothers said they have buried their children due to the state’s war policies on the territory of Kurdistan for 40 years. Mothers stated that all they want is a world without war.

The cornerstones of social values mothers continue to exhibit their attitude for peace, beauty and truth in every sphere of life. As Mother’s Day has been celebrated in the world and Turkey, the deaths are deemed proper for Kurdish mothers due to war, carried out in Kurdistan by the AKP government. One Kurdish mother Beyaz Uca evaluated the Mother's Day, is celebrated the second Sunday in May. “Tomorrow is the Mother’s Day; however, many of mothers aren’t with us now. They were killed in Sur, Cizre and Yüksekova. Taybet’s body remained in the street for seven days in Silopi. (57 year old Taybet Inan, mother of 11 was killed in Şırnak’s Silopi district). The children of Taybet could retrieve their mother’s body from the street days later. Erdoğan kills us just for we are Kurdish. How we can celebrate Mother’s Day while we are killed.”

Another mother Gönül Özdemir expressed her feeling about eight-month pregnant Remziye Bor who was shot and wounded in the Hacıbekir (Xaçort) neighborhood of Van by police. “I live in Xaçort, too. They shot a pregnant woman named Remziye Bor one month ago. She is a mother. Try to go there and celebrate her Mother’s Day. We cannot go out due to the police make their rounds every night. What do they want from us? Even in the mother’s Day, they kill our children, they arrest our children and they shoot the mothers. How a mother who doesn’t have her children can celebrate the Mother’s Day?”

Feleknas Timur said they don’t want war as mothers. “I wish a day without clash in Mother’s Day. We just buried one of our martyries today. We don’t want war on our lands. We never want the mothers of soldiers, police and guerillas to cry. We have buried our children for 40 years. As Kurdish people, we don’t want to bury our children anymore. I call on Emine Erdoğan from here. She is also a mother. Our children are killed in our lands. Her children go to abroad for education. As a mother ever does she get hurt?”

Meryem Tuncer is another mother. She reminded that many dead bodies of people those who were killed in ongoing clashes in Yüksekova, haven’t been identified by their families yet. We are mothers. Mothers haven’t any race. We have pain for every child dies. Still there are mothers who cannot find their children in ongoing clashes in our city.”
