Hasankeyf and Tigris Valley Symposium begins

ÊLIH - A two-day symposium has begun to save Hasankeyf and Tigris Valley. Batman co-mayor Gülistan Akel gave a speech in symposium. “The policy which bombs and demoslihes Sur, Cizre, Nusaybin, Silopi and many other places, has been implemented in Hasankeyf.”said Gülistan.

Batman co-mayor Gülistan Akel Nevin Soyukaya from Diyarbakir Metropolitan Municipality, Department for Cultural Heritage and Tourism, Ertuğrul Günay former Minister for Culture and Tourism, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Batman MPs Ayşe Acar Başaran and Mehmet Ali Aslan, the HDP and DBP administrators and the Free Women's Congress (KJA) components participated in the symposium.
Batman co-mayor Gülistan Akel made the opening speech of symposium. She said that they will talk about which measure should be taken against destruction by talking about Hasankeyf and Tigris Valley in this period is vital. Gülistan said, “We’ll rise against this destruction policy to the end. We’ll raise our struggle to prevent the destruction of Hasankeyf and Tigris Valley.” Gülistan also stated that the project of Ilısu Dam is like killing and masscare a person. Hasankeyf breathes and it is alive. Gülistan said, “One city is annihilated by bombs and other is annihilated by putting under water. We get together and raise our voice against this destruction policy.”
The symposium continues with sessions and presentations.
