ŞIRNEX - People began to rebuild their homes after genocidal attacks on Şırnak. The state has demolished the homes rebuilt by the people. Cizre Municipality co-mayor Leyla İmret pointed out that the non-damaged houses have been pulled down under the name of "Risk areas" and she stated that less damage houses which were rebuilt by people, have been pulled down by the state.

Cizre people those who returned to their lands after genocidal attacks lasted 79 days in the Cizre district of Şırnak and wanted to rebuild their homes have been prevented by the state. Rebuilding of houses has been prevented under the name of "Risk areas". The state is also trying to stop the works of Municipality. People have continued to rebuild their district despite all the obstacles. More than 100 houses have been rebuilt in the district until now. While, according to the determination made by Cizre Municipality, 1200 houses are heavy damaged, according to statements made by District Governorate, 3200 houses are heavy damaged.

Cizre Municipality co-mayor Leyla İmret said that the people returned their lands and began to rebuild their houses after the ban had been lifted in the town. She pointed out that the non-damaged houses have been pulled down and the state has tried to prevent the works of people and municipality under the name of "Risk areas". Leyla said, "Many organizations in Turkey, Kurdistan and Europe have declared mobilization for Cizre. Likewise, Cizre people have created a solidarity network with each other. The citizens rebuild their homes in order to not leave their lands."

Leyla said that the District Governorate announced that 3200 houses are heavy damaged; however, this number is 1200. The state shows the non-damaged houses as heavy damaged to carry out their plans. Leyla also said that the state has demolished 10 houses in Cizre everyday, "They have clipped the citizens' wings by saying "Risk areas". They want to change the social, cultural and historical structure of Cizre and force the people to leave here. However, the people are resisting against everything.

"They go to demolish the houses without informing the people. The state has seized the construction and road works in Cizre, too. They try to make the Municipality dysfunctional by doing so. They say that they will rebuild the roads, the construction is their deal. Actually, they have seized the Municipality."
