GIRKÊ LEGÊ - The Women's Protection Units (YPJ) Commander Tekoşin Abay made a speech on the 18th death anniversary of Sema Yüce, who set fire her body against the treacherous line. Tekoşin said that the YPJ moves forward to freedom with Sema's spirit of resistance.

The Women's Protection Units (YPJ) Commander Tekoşin Abay made evaluations regarding the 18th death anniversary of Sema Yüce who is a symbol of resistance for Kurdish women. Tekoşin noted that Sema Yüce created a large ring in the history of women's liberation. Tekoşin stated, "Friend Sema set fire her body in Çanakkale Prison on 1998 by saying, "There aren't two living options and two morals for women and people those who want to be free, like there aren't two suns in the sky." and comrade Sema carried out action against all kinds of collaborators, treacherous and enslaving male mindset by saying, "I want to make my brain, heart and body a fire bridge between March 8 to March 21." That's why Kurdish women commemorate Sema Yüce in all areas."

Tekoşin talked about the will power of Sema and her action by saying, "Sema is from Ağrı. I know Heval Sema (heval: friend) from her letter she left behind. She becomes a symbol like Leyla Qasim who had a combative and progressive women's spirit. She played a great role in South Revolution. I see the same progressive spirit in the childhood and history of the struggle of heval Sema. Heval Sema said, "Leyla Qasim showed me there will be a new path." Heval Sema joined the PKK against the mindset enslaving system that draws the women and society from freedom and moral values. She said "Stop" to collaborators, treacherous and enslaving male mindset. The action of heval Sema has led to major developments in our history of struggle from the point of mental, psychological, sociological and social consequences.

"YPJ was formed with great effort of female commanders like Sema, Beritan and Leyla Qasim by receiving strong heritage from women struggle for freedom and it has set a precedent for women in the world. We move forward to freedom with the spirit of resistance."
