ISTANBUL- Sennur Güven killed herself in prison as result of negligences. Sennur's lawyer Efkan Bolaç said that the prison director, the Constitutional Court (AYM) and all authorites are responsible for the death of Sennur.

A person, who was detained within scope of an operation, carried out against "Struggle Committee for Democratic High School" in Istanbul in 2001, said, "Sennur is our head of Şişli region." Sennur was detained after the person's testimony. Sennur was jailed and sent to Bakırköy Closed Women's Prison. 13 years later of the operation, Sennur was detained and jailed upon the testimony of a person and she was sentenced to six years and three months in prison. Sennur, who had celiac disease and diabetes, bipolar disorder and many other health problems, was held in prison despite the applications of her lawyer.

Helding in prison for 19 months Sennur's lawyer Efkan Bolaç stated that we cannot call the death of Sennur as "suicide" and said, "Sennur had celiac disease and her doctor stated that she needed special care or her disease could turn into cancer. Meanwhile, she had diabetes, bipolar disorder and many other health problems. Bipolar disorder can cause suicidal tendency. We applied to the Constitutional Court (AYM) for 19 months and we demanded interim measure for her. The doctors also stated that she needed to take hospital. We told that to prison administrations; however, they rejected our demand for not having patient ward. Forensic Medicine Institute gave her a report to send Sennur to hospital. However, they didn't take this report into consideration. Her sister went to prison to see Sennur last week. Sennur told her that she thought to kill herself. We told that to the prison administrations but they didn't do anything. Sennur died. They will write the reason of death as "suicide" but it isn't suicide. The responsibles of Sennur death are obvious. The administrations those who didn't take our warnings into consideration, are the responsible."
