MÊRDÎN - Nusaybin people those who were forced to leave their homes, disappoint the state's policies of denial, destruction and assimilation. "Our place is here, we won't go from here." said Hakime Taylan, who had to immigrate to Mardin and waits for return Nusaybin.
People those who haven't left their lands respond to displacement policies which put into practice with genocidal attacks on self-government areas. As "curfew" has been imposed on Nusaybin since March 13, state forces have attacked the town with tanks, bombs and warplanes. Nusaybin people have settled areas around the town and wait for return their homes. The people have fought despite all difficulties of life for months like their besieged town.
Hakime Taylan came to Mardin from Nusaybin two months ago. She said, "My hope and dream is to return my town. I passed 10 years there. Nusaybin was my love. We'll return there even if our homes are demolished. We'll resist but not leave our homes." Mother of nine Hakime said, "My children are small. There were sounds of bombs, gunshots… I was afraid of being shot and leaving my children without "mother". If I died, who would look after them? My children were depressed due to they couldn't go out, play games and stay in home. Whenever they heard sound of bomb, they held my skirt by saying, "Mom, bomb exploded"."
Hakime said her children also want to return Nusaybin. Her three years old child told her, "Mom, let's go Nusaybin and our home." And other told her, "Mom, when will we return our home? We miss our home."
Hakime described the days she passed in besieged Nusaybin as, "I will never forget those days. They were like nightmare. I will remember those days until I die. We didn't have electricity, water and food. I cried everyday due to stress, grief and fear. I want to return my home even if it is demolished. We'll resist; however we won't leave our lands. I like Nusaybin. We'll set up tent and begin to rebuild our home."
