ISTANBUL - Italian activist Lucia Giusti went to Cizre and she described what happened in Cizre as "genocide". Lucia said, "We talked to women who lost their husbands and children in the basements. The city has been burned and demolished. That's genocide."
An association named Verso Il Kurdıstan Associazione has become a voice of the resistance of Kurdish people for almost 16 years. The association members went to Cizre and observed the situation in the town. The association members went to Rojava and expanded the international solidarity network there previously. One member of the association Lucia Giusti described what happened in Cizre as "genocide".
Lucia stated that they went to Cizre several days ago and she said, "First I should state that; Kurdish people are a people with honor. We have witnessed that once more in Cizre. First we went to the crisis desk. We did everthing we could for solidarity with the people. We talked to people who lost their relatives. We talked to women those who lost their husbands and children in the basements. The city has been completely burned and demolished. That's genocide."
Lucia noted that they decided to go Cizre after the call of Göç-Der. Lucia said, "When we got a call from them, we decided to go Cizre in order to make observations in the town. We'll make a statement to the press as soon as we return to Italy. We'll tell everyone what we saw in Cizre."
Lucia said that Kurdish women have become a model to all women in the world with their self-sacrifice and resistance. Lucia said, "The only hope of Kurdistan is Kurdish women."
