AMED - Aynur T. has been exposed to immigration twice within 20 years due to ongoing the state's displacement policy. "When I had to leave Sur, I reminded 20 years ago. I was forced out of my village, but I won't leave Sur." said Aynur.

Thousands of families had been forced to leave their neighbothoods without taking anything due to the state's genocidal attacks on Sur. The residents of the neighborhoods of Sur are mostly the displaced people in 1990s. They have been forced to leave their homes again after the state's attacks on sur. The families members said that they had already experienced that in 1990s. "We had been forced out of our villages; however, we won't leave Sur."

Aynur T. stated that she lived in the Kurçayır villages of Diyarbakır's Silvan district. However, her village was evacuated in 1996 by state forces. "We had to migrate to the Hasırlı Neighborhood of Sur district with our nine children due to the state's oppression on our village. We had difficult time to get used to city life after village life. We had rebuilt our life after migrating to the Hasırlı Neighborhood. However, the state began to attack here that time. We had had to leave our village without taking anything in 1990s, the same thing happened here again.

"Hundreds of populated of the village was evacuated in one hour. The same happened in Sur. All people in Sur left their homes barefoot without taking anything to save their life after Tahir Elçi (Head of Diyarbakır Bar Association on November 28, 2015) was killed. We also left the same day. When I took my children out of Sur, I remembered the day 20 years ago. The state seized our belongings and they burned my home. I had left my village by leaving my childhood memories behind; my children are experiencing the same thing now. There aren't any streets, which our children played in.

"They burned my home. However, I will return to Sur and I will rebuild it. The state took our village from us in 1990s; however, I don't go anywhere by leaving Sur. I don't care about anything; just I wish people didn't die. Sur is my homeland since I moved there."
