Ulrike Held: Whole world will know the state's atrocity against Kurds

AMED - Ulrike Held from Courge Women's Movement in Germany stated that they came to Diyarbakır in order to show their solidarity with Kurdish women against the state's war policies carry out investigations in areas where the state attacked. She said that they came to Diyarbakır to show the Turkish state's oppressions implemented on Kurdish people, in particular on women, to whole world.
A group of women came to Diyarbakır to show their solidarity with Kurdish women upon a decision made on 2nd World Women's Conference held in Nepal on March 13-18, 2016. Women, who visited women's organizations and municipalities held by the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), carried our investigations in Diyarbakır's Sur district and came together families whose children were killed by state forces. Ulrike Held from Courge Women's Movement in Germany told our agency their observations in behalf of the delegation members. She noted that the destruction in Kurdistan has affected the most women.
Ulrike told us why she came to Kurdistan: "We came to Diyarbakır to show the Turkish state's oppressions implemented on Kurdish people, in particular on women, to whole world. Curfews declared here is unlawful. The government has inflicted cruelty on Kurdish people with arbitrary implementations. We are here to determine this destruction and learn how women affected by what happened during the ban."
Ulrike said that Kurdish women have been badly affected by ongoing situation; however, they have showed a great resistance, too. She said, "First, we noticed the pressure on Kurdish people. We learned how women are brave despite ongoing oppression. Women resist together against the oppression and atrocity. Therefore, women were subjected to this atrocity during the curfew and they are affected by this situation. But, Kurdish women resist again by returning their destroyed homes despite the death and destruction. This resistance struggle will be an example to all women in the world."
Ulrike noted that they will carry out works in Cizre, Yüksekova and Silopi after Diyarbakır. She said, "We will report what we see here. Whole wolrd should learn what Kurdish people face. We are here to show that we are against this was policy of Erdoğan's government and atrocity. Turkish armed forces implemented torture on Kurdish people. Women have been raped and harassed. We came here to be voice of women here and announce what happened here to the world."
