AMED – Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Party Council women members reacted to the attack and threats against the DBP co-chair Sebahat Tuncel outside of İdil by state forces. “The impasse in every part of Kurdistan is the impasse of the Middle East. There won’t be peace in these lands without solving the Kurdish problem.” said Fatma Gül, member of the Central Executive Committee of the DBP.

Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Party Council women members held a press conference in order to assess the attack and threats against the DBP co-chair Sebahat Tuncel outside of İdil by state forces and what happened in the last period. Fatma Gül, member of the Central Executive Committee of the DBP, reminded the approaching the 34th anniversary of indefinite hunger strike on July 14 and she commemorated those who lost their lives in resistance.

Fatma also reminded that Sebahat Tuncel was threatened with death by state forces and she said, “We organized a meeting with the people with the aim of celebrating the feast with our people. Meeting in such an important process has a valuable means for us and people. Our co-chair went to visit the people in İdil, Silopi and Cizre during Ramadan month. The approach of regime forces against us cannot be accepted. They can attack and threaten a co-chair of a political party. We experience this in so-called “A Democratic Country”.

“We won’t accept the attacks. No one can discourage us. All people in the world witnessed that the death defeats against the Kurdish people. Kurdish people have resisted against death for 40 years and they will continue to resist. We will never surrender.”

Fatma emphasized that they will never forget the massacres and she said, “We will empower our struggle. Turkey is in an impasse in foreign policy. The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) takes sides with the AKP. It becomes partner with the AKP against its own people. The impasse in every part of Kurdistan is the impasse of the Middle East. There won’t be peace in these lands without solving the Kurdish problem. We’ll continue to fight in order to bring peace and democracy to these lands.”
