Delegation departs to Lice in order to investigate the forest fires

AMED - Ecology Commission of the DTK (Democratic Society Congress) and Mesopotamian Ecology Movement members departed to Lice in order to investigate on site the destruction caused by forest fires.
Ecology Commission of the DTK (Democratic Society Congress) and Mesopotamian Ecology Movement members departed to Lice in order to investigate on site the destruction caused by forest fires broke out in Diyarbakır’s Lice district as result of military operations. The delegation made a brief statement in front of office of the DTK. They stated that they want to report the ecological destruction and massacre of nature and see what happened on site. Then, Mesopotamian Ecology Movement activist Güler Yalçın made the statement in behalf of the delegation. She said that the plan will be carried out by participation of ecology activists and movements members those who will come to Antep, Urfa, Mardin, Van, Amed and Batman.
Güler stated that they are preparing the report with about 30 organizations around Turkey. She said, “In order to investigate the ecological destruction through forest fires, which threatens also the livelihoods of locals, we call upon on ecologists, human right defenders and other engaged people and organizations from international level and Western Turkey to form a delegation between July 23 and 25 in our region. Beginning in the Diyarbakır province the delegation will go to forest fire affected areas, do on site researches and speak to local people and organizations. We expect all interested on the morning of the 23rd July in Diyarbakır.”
