Women make life green with hope just to spite attacks

SHENGAL - Êzidî women make life green with hope just to spite attacks on Shengal Mountains where they take refuge. They build clay oven, produce milk from sheeps and provide their vegetables need by planting them. "Life is created by women's labor," said Êzidî women and they called for "protecting your lands" to all women.

Êzidî women have taken refuge on Shengal Mountains after ISIS attacked Shengal. They have maintained their life despite all difficulties. Êzidî women objective is to rebuild the life. They have maintained natural life on Shengal Mountains and transferred their cultural traditions to next generations.

One of these Êzidî women, Hurê Xwededa, said, "If we look at our history, we will see that women have lived with nature all the time. Women obtained the first products from soil. We have maintained our life by building clay oven, producing milk from sheeps and providing our vegetables need by planting them. Women make something out of nothing. The life can be maken green with hope. Women shouldn't lose their hope and they should rebuild their life despite all difficulties."

Another Êzidî woman, Edlan Xêro, said, "We cooked bread for our children by building clay oven in order to fight against hunger. We walked for hours to carry water. Today, we rise from the ashes. We raise our children healthy by producing milk from sheeps and providing our vegetables need by planting them. Women do almost all of these works. We call on all women; protect your lands and natural life."
