As Amnesty International asked that "independent monitors" must be allowed to access detainees amid torture allegations, the amnesty called on the CPT (European Committee for the Prevention of Torture) to visit Turkey about this issue.

Amnesty International stated that detainees were subjected to sexual assault and said, "Turkey is understandably concerned with public security at the moment, but no circumstances can ever justify torture and other ill-treatment or arbitrary detention."
