Gever children help to rebuild their home

COLEMERG - Yüksekova children, whose homes were pillaged by stated forces during the siege, lasted months, have collected iron around and sold them in order to meet their needs and supported their families to rebuild their homes.

Hakkari's Yüksekova (Gever) district has continued its self-government resistance against state forces' heavy attacks. Yüksekova children have contributed to their families' budget and the rebuilding of their homes. They have collected irons in the areas where state forces burned and demolished and molten them to sell. 10-year-old Kawa Çiftçi and eight-year-old Yusuf Çiftçi are brothers. They have met their need by selling the melted iron. Kawa said that his family is in financial difficulties, "I collect iron and melt them to sell. I meet my needs and take care of my family by this way. We had to leave our home when ban was declared."

Kawa stated that children have the hardest time in ongoing war, "As children, we don't deserve wars. We want to wake up in a beautiful life. We just have our toys, don't let them to break our toys. Prepare a free future for us."

Yusuf Çiftçi (8) said that their television was broken by state forces, "We watched cartoons before the ban. However, they broke our television during the ban. We just had television and our toys. They took them from us. I collect irons with my brother to sell. We give the money we gain to our mother to buy a television and toys."
