No news from Emrah detained 3 days ago

AMED - 26-year-old Emrah Önkol, was detained three days ago during house raids conducted in villages following declaration of "curfew" in Lice, has been missing since then. Lice Police Department alleged that "No one like that is under custody. We don't have information about that."His wife Hayriye Önkol is raising concern about her husband's life.

"Curfew" was declared in Diyarbakır's Lice district three days ago. Soldiers conducted raid on Ceme Elika village and detained 26-year-old Emrah Önkol. Emrah was detained on August 2 by soldiers and there isn't any news from him since then. Emrah's family applied to police department and gendarmerie to learn his whereabouts; however, no response has been given to his family.

Emrah's lawyer called Lice Police Department to ask Emrah's whereabouts, the police department told the lawyer, "No one like that is under custody. We don't have information about that."

Hayriye Önkol said that she was with Emrah when soldiers detained him and she hasn't had any news from him since then. Hayriye emphasized that she concerns about her husband's life and said, "We were in the home due to ban was imposed in the village. Soldiers entered our home and asked our IDs. After questioning identities, they told my hunband, "There is a search warrant against you, you should come with us". We haven't gotten any news from him for three days. We concern about his life. They told me that they would inform me at evening the latest; however, we haven't gotten any news from him since three days."

Hayriye called on the authorities to make a statement about her husband in no time.
