AMED – The Democratic Regions Party (DBP) co-chair Sebahat Tuncel made evaluations about the hunger strike to be launched with demand of having a meeting with the PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan. “Time is the time to raise this struggle. The actions will continue until having a meeting Mr.Öcalan. This is a call for peace to Turkey and Kurdistan,” said Sebahat.

Kurdish politics released a declaration in front of the building of the DTK (Democratic Society Congress) under the leadership of the DTK (Democratic Society Congress), HDK (Peoples' Democratic Congress), KJA (Free Women's Congress), DBP (Democratic Regions' Party) and HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) and announced that they would launched an indefinite- irreversible hunger strike on September 5. They indicated that their single demand was the PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan be enabled a meeting within the framework of laws. The Democratic Regions Party (DBP) co-chair Sebahat Tuncel made evaluations about the decision of the action. She stated that they were going to prepare an action plan, “Mr.Öcalan has struggled for the fraternity of the peoples so far. There was a peace environment in this country while he was active. This war and clash has become deeper when the meetings with him have been denied.”

Sebahat underlined that no information has been received from Abdullah Öcalan for 510 days, “This attitude is not only against Mr.Öcalan, it is also against a people. Kurdish people see their freedom and peace through Mr. Öcalan. The struggle should be raised in every area until having a meeting with Mr.Öcalan. As DBP, we will actively participate in this progress. We are ready to discharge our responsibility in order to raise the struggle, organize and make the hunger strike visible.
