ÊLIH – Batman people have held a watch action for days against the trustee appointed to Batman Municipality. As the watch continues, Batman women say, “They will leave our municipality as they usurped.

The trustees have been appointed to the municipalities governed by the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) following declaration of three-months state of emergency. The watch started by Batman people against appointed trustee to Batman Municipality has continued. Batman people have held the watch since the trustee was appointed to the municipality. Batman women underline they will continue the watch and their resistance until they take their municipality again.

Rahime Gündüz, one of these women, said they would never leave the municipality and said, “Our municipality is one of our largest values. We built this municipality with our struggle, labor and blood of our martyrs. We claim our municipality, Leader, case and values until we die. We will not leave our municipality to the end. We will be in streets until we get our municipality back. We will sleep and sit in front of the municipality until we get it back.”

Rahime called on the Kurdish people and Batman people by saying, “I am calling on the Kurdish people, mothers, women, young people; come and stand up for your values. They killed our people, demolished our homes, and killed our children. Now, they seize our municipality which we elected by our willpower.”

Koçer Ataş has held the watch for days. Koçer underlined she would stand by their mayor and she said, “You cannot take our municipality. You will go out from the municipality like they entered. As Kurdish people, we will not allow you to sit in the municipality. You bring people from other cities because the employees of Batman Municipality don’t work with you. No one can work in our municipality; you will not be supported by our people.”

Sabahat Baziç stated that their municipality was seized by armored vehicles and said, “We will not leave here until they leave our municipality. We will not leave our municipality to the AKP government and we will not end our watch until they leave the municipality. We don’t want their service. They came here with their armored vehicles and they will go on their feet.”
