AMED – “This is an institution that serves the people; however, it is closed to the people now, there are armored vehicles in front of its door. We will get rid of this with people,’ said Silvan Municipality Deputy Co-mayor Zuhal Tekiner by stating that Silvan Municipality was raided with the sense of conquest.
Silvan Municipality Deputy Co-mayor Zuhal Tekiner expressed that the door of the municipality that serves the people always opens to the people, “However, they have closed the door of the municipality and they have hanged Turkish flag as if they conquer a place in another country.”
One of the municipalities which trustees have been appointed to and the Turkish flag has been hanged on their signboards is Diyarbakır’s Silvan Municipality. Meya Women’s Counseling Center affiliated to the municipality cannot carry out work due to the appointed trustee. The deputy co-mayor Zuhal Tekiner expressed that police raided the municipality with armored vehicles on September 11, “They changed the lock and chucked the officers out of the municipality.”
Zuhal stated that not only the Kurdish people but also all people rose against the blow against peoples’ decision, “The same reaction developed on July 15 against the coup should develop against the blow to our municipalities. I think the peoples in Turkey remain incapable about this issue. We don’t think the people in the region haven’t been stood up so much for two years. The peoples in Turkey could have stood up for them more. They should have raised their voice more.”
Zuhal reminded that many operations had been carried out in Silvan since last year, “People were shot in front of us. We went through a very difficult period. Silvan people experienced this situation by feeling.” Zuhal underlined that a blow was carried out on the municipalities in the period when the people began to heal their wounds, “The doors of co-mayors are always open to the people. There are armored vehicles in front of the door now and they have hanged Turkish flag as if they conquer a place in another country.”
Zuhal expressed that the places, which serve the people, have been turned into police stations, “People see this as a blow against them. They say, ‘We elected you and now you are dismissed from your duty and appointed the trustee is a blow against us.’ Local administrations serve and listen the people not protect them against the people. At this point, we will talk to people about how to get rid of this and we will keep going with a perspective according to our talks.”
