ISTANBUL – A campaign launched on social media with hashtag, “#ŞortunuGiySokağaÇık” (Wear your shorts, go out) against the attack on a woman, who wore a short.

Ayşegül Terzi was subjected to sexual and physical attack by unknown man. The man shouted Ayşegül “You are the devil”and “those who wear short must die” and kicked her face. Women have posted supportive messages to Ayşegül on social media against masculine mindset. As the hashtag of “#AyşegülTerzininSesiOlalım” (LetsBeVoiceofAyşegülTerzi) became first on social media yesterday, women protested the attack with the hashtags, “#ŞortunuGiySokağaÇık” (Wear your shorts, go out) and “#ŞortumaDokunma” (Don’tTouchMyShort).

Women wore their shorts and shared their photographs on social media and said “We stand by Ayşegül. Silence means being party to crime.”
