Investigation opened into 4 teachers for taking photos on March 8

AMED – Investigation have been opened into four teachers for taking their photos in front of pictures of three Kurdish women politicians, who were killed in Paris during March 8 activity organized by Eğitim Sen.
Over 4000 teachers, who have been suspended from their duties for suing for peace in Diyarbakır, have resisted returning to their duties. This attack wasn’t the first attack against the teachers, members of the Education and Science Workers Union (Eğitim-SEN); they have been suspended, expelled from schools and arrested.
Four female teachers took their photos in front of pictures of three Kurdish women politicians Leyla Şaylemez, Sakine Cansız and Fidan Doğan, who were killed in Paris, during March 8, International Women’s Day activity organized by Eğitim Sen in 2004. They shared their photos on social media. Investigation was opened into four women for the photos and they were held under detention for 12 hours on November 2014.
Four female teachers, who were sent to the court for arrest, were released. Four teachers, who faced many difficulties for two years, were acquitted on June.
