ISTANBUL- The academic of Istanbul University Recep Seymen has been displayed for his sexist and homophobic discourses by the Women of Earth (Yeryüzü Kadınları). “They sent the academics, who want peace, away from universities and protect academics who are sexist and homophobic,” said women.

Recep Seymen, who gives lesson in Istanbul University, Faculty of Economics, said that homosexuality and sexual intercourse at an early age are perversion of western society in a class. Recep also said, “Those who protest early marriage in the east, why do not protest sexual intercourse at an early age in the west?” He tried to legitimate the situation of children who are forced to marry by saying that.

Women reacted to his sexist discourses in the class; thereupon Recep said it was unnecessary to enlarge the experienced incident in Ensar Foundation (a teacher accused of sexually abusing children in the foundation) while there were sexual assaults and homosexual relations in the west. Recep continued his discourses during one and half hour lesson. Upon the discussion of women, Recep threatened the women by saying, “I have been dismissed and fired many times; however I come back every time. If someone messes around me, I will mess around him/her.”

One female student said, “The first thing I thought was how bad the people in the class with you remaining silent. The discourses were insult against all of us.”

The Women of Earth (Yeryüzü Kadınları) made a written statement and said, “We, as women, will never leave our universities to those who has male-dominant, homophobic mindset and advocate Ensar. We will continue our struggle against masculine mindset in every field.”
