AMED – Members of the Women’s Assembly of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality demanded Yüksel Aslan Acer, the Head of Women's Policy Department, to be released.

Members of the Women’s Assembly of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality made a press statement in front of the building of the Department of Culture and Arts as to the detention of Yüksel Aslan Acer, the Head of Women's Policy Department. Rojda Balkaş Akyüz, the Deputy Secretary General of the Metropolitan Municipality, read the statement on behalf of the assembly. Rojda reminds that Yüksel Aslan Acer was detained on September 6 and she has been held under detention since then. Rojda underlines that the accusations against Yüksel have unknown due to the confidentiality order on the file.

Rojda said, “Yüksel is both senior manager of our municipality and an activist for the works carried out on women. Women’s works cannot be a ground of punishment. Yüksel should be sent to the prosecution and be released immediately.”
