Erciş grape dating back to the Urartu civilization grows in the Erciş district of Van. This grape variety is known for its thin skin and tart taste. This grape is black and coarse grained. Erciş grape is ready to be sold on September each year. This thin-skinned grape has been found only in Nice and Lyon cities of France and Erciş’s Bayramlı (Axsraf), Tekler (Gîrgûs), Salmanağa (Selmanaxa) and Örene villages and neighborhoods.
