State of emergency extended 3 months

ANKARA – The state of emergency that went into effect following the failed coup has been extended another three months.

Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtuluş made a statement following the cabinet meeting held yesterday. He said, “We decided to extend the state of emergency another 90 days in the cabinet meeting.” The state of emergency that went into effect following the failed coup on July 15 on the purpose of annihilation and intimidation against opposition groups since it was declared, has been extended another three months beginning on October 19.

The decision will be punished in the official gazette and will be submitted for the parliament. The period of the state of emergency can be extended for a maximum of four months.
