AMED – A Diyarbakır court has ordered the imprisonment of Figen Yüksekdağ, general co-chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), as well as Mardin parliamentary representative Gülser Yıldırım.

After last night’s arrest of HDP parliamentary representatives, the court in Diyarbakır has ordered the pre-trial detention of Figen Yüksekdağ, general co-chair of the HDP and parliamentary representative for Van province, and Gülser Yıldırım, parliamentary representative for Mardin province.

Notably, the detention decisions were not delivered to Figen or her lawyers, but were instead leaked to the press first. State news agency Anadolu Agency and Doğan News Agency were the first to announce the news of the announcement. Meanwhile, there is no news regarding the status of Figen’s fellow co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş.
