ANKARA – Lawyer Hülya Gülbahar, a member of the Equality Commission, evaluates the constitutional amendment that is discussed by the AKP, CHP and MHP and expected to be presented in the parliament in a short period time as a regime amendment and indicates they don’t accept any constitutional amendments that women and all sections of society aren’t participate in.
Negotiations for the Constitutional amendment commission, which the AKP government particularly focuses on the presidential system, has launched with the participation of the AKP, the CHP and the MHP. Constitutional amendment talks took place on a platform without any the HDP MPs. Lawyer Hülya Gülbahar, a member of the Equality Commission, indicates they don’t accept any constitutional amendments that women and all sections of society aren’t participate in and underlines that the AKP sees the state of emergency conditions as opportunity and puts the demands of the presidential system proposal that the AKP had previously presented to the Parliamentary Conciliation Commission into practice. Hülya said, “The appointment of the rectors by the presidency, the meeting of the government under the chairmanship of the presidency, giving the statutory decrees power to the president show that there is actually a regime change in Turkey.” Hülya continued as follows:
“We, as women, don’t want a captain in the family, society and state”
“The 82 Constitution was repealed and a draft constitution, which the AKP has previously presented to the parliament, has been put into effect. There isn’t any possibility of a new constitutional debate while all media outlets except pro-government media outlets have been shut down.” Hülya expressed they didn’t want a captain in the family, society and state and she emphasized that there isn’t any media outlets to raise voice and said, “For this reason, pretending that there is a debate on the Constitutional Amendment in the environment of the state of emergency is tragicomic.”
