Kabê Children's House, opened by Sur Municipality Women's Support Center,is attracting  intense interest. Here the children are studying in Kurdish. KADEM, to create opportunities for the participation of trainees and in order to avoid children's alienation of their mother tongue ,opened children's house and its  only difference from other nursery schools is providing  education in Kurdish. Children's House became the focus of attention  of both parents and children. Hacire Öner is a trainee in KADEM and her three children are in nursery.  She is attracting attention that  the nursery is approaching very sensitively in children's education. Hacire,who has not got enough time to look after her children, is expressing her satisfaction with these words; ’’ my children was out from morning till night. I could not know which one I  have to interested  with.But the teacher was very helpful for us by educating the children about it. They are looking after my children beter than me.’’ And she says’’Children had big problems as Turkish is  spoken outside.They could not learn Kurdish easily. But now they can both understand and speak Kurdish. Now,they are very happy with the nursery atmosphere.’’

‘Our songs, games and tales are Kurdish’

Medine Ölçen, manager of KADEM and teacher in the children's house, says that the families who want  their children's receiving  education in mother tongue show great interest. Medine stated that the nursery, where the trainees' children had only accepted initially,showed great success. She said that ‘’ after this success we have accepted the women's children who are especially pregnant and need nursery. Medine, who attracted attention that the children in the nursery do not suffer the difficulties of being foreigner,says;’’the only difference of us is; our songs, games and tales are Kurdish.’’

The first purpose isteaching to children their mother tongue

Gülbahar Örmek, Deputy  Mayor of Sur Municipilaty,expressed that their  first purpose of opening the children’s house is supporting to the working women. Gülbahar, who said that ‘’most of the women can not go out. And if she has got child,going out is become two times more  impossible,’’ is voicing that thier target is finding solution for the women who can not  leave their children to their mother-in-law, neighbors and their husbands. Gülbahar pointed to that they  take as a goal the children's learning their mother tongue and women's participation in social life, and she said they would continue to walk this way. Gülbahar is reporting  that the Sur District has got multilingual,multireligious,multicultural character and they are planning to open children's house in this neighboors with their own language. Gulbahar also says that they aim to be an example of mother tongue education. Gülbahar who emphases on native language do not divide up a state,  says;''whether  children play games in Kurdish or play games in Turkish or  Persian tales are told, This do not divide up  state.''

 'It does not matter what language we speak, the message is the same'

Gülbahar said that Sur Municipality has opened three women's support center so far and there are children's house which give  education in native language  Hasırlı and Kâbe districts and also a nursery is going to be opened at Ziya Gökalp Women's Support Center in a short time. Gülbahar points out that the courses and nurseries are completely free because of the economic troubles of the people in these districts.she said the changes which are going to be done in education system are not scary. She said that ‘’we are doing big changes by taking native language in education.But this should not horrify anyone.’’Also Gülbahar  draws attention that  these nurseries increase women's success rate .
