Saturday Mothers says AKP refuses them justice

ISTANBUL – Hanife Yıldız, speaking at the 530th weekly action of the Saturday Mothers, criticized the policies of AKP government, saying that "AKP lays roads everywhere, but not a road to justice".

The Saturday Mothers and the Human Rights Association (İHD) officials held their 530th weekly sit-in for justice for the families of the forcibly disappeared and those lost under custody in Turkey. They held a sit-in once against in Galatasaray Square in Istanbul's central Taksim district, bearing photographs of the missing.

"We will not leave the state in peace. We will resume struggle until peace is served in this country," said Hanım Tosun, wife of Fehmi Tosun. Saturday Mother Hanife Yıldız, mother of Murat Yıldız, echoed the critique of the AKP government.

Hepgül Bozoğlu read the statement this week, in which the group emphasized that the Turkish regime is fundamentally based on injustice. "There is culture of impunity in this country," said Hepgül.

"One of the victims of the crimes against humanity is missing Fettah Erden. Erden was detained by a group of Turkish soldiers in Hetma village, bound for the Güçlükonak district of Şırnak 21 years ago," she continued. When Fettah's family went to a military post to try to learn his fate, soldiers attacked and beat them.
