RIHA - Over the weekend, there were over 200 funerals in Kobanê, as residents buried those killed in the Daesh attack on the city on June 25.
According to officials in the city of Kobanê, 221 people were killed in Daesh's June 25th attack on the city, when gang members infiltrated the city, detonated several explosive vehicles and opened fire on the people of the city. Almost all of the victims were civilians.
On Friday, YPG/YPJ forces successfully cleared the city center of the Daesh gangs, but clashes continue in the countryside around the city. Because of the lack of medical services in Kobanê, which was liberated from a devastating five-month Daesh siege in January, most of the wounded were brought across the border to Turkey for treatment. Hospital officials say eight of the 180 wounded Kobanê residents treated in Turkey lost their lives in hospital.
The body of Ramazan Akdoğan, one of seven YPG and YPJ fighters killed defending the city from the attack, was brought across the border to Turkey yesterday. Ramazan will be buried in his native town of Yüksekova, located in Turkey's Kurdish province of Hakkari.
