AMED - The people of Diyarbakır protested the AKP's new attacks in Northern Kurdistan (Turkey) with noise demos and protests yesterday evening.

Throughout the day yesterday, Turkish forces launched attacks on Kurdish towns and villages in Silvan, Lice, and Şemdinli. In the main Kurdish city of Diyarbakır, citizens protested the attacks.

Around 8:00 p.m., people began to turn their lights on and off and took to their balconies with pots and pans to protest. Protestors took to the streets in neighborhoods across the city, with particularly heavy clashes in the Huzurevleri neighborhood, where the sounds of fireworks and tear gas were intense.
