NEWS CENTER - The KJK has issued a statement calling for support for the Kurdish people's legitimate demand for self-government.
The coordinating body of the KJK (Group of Women in Kurdistan) has issued a statement on recent developments in Kurdistan. The group, affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), said that the AKP government and Turkish President Erdoğan were attempting to seize dictatorial power in the Middle East alongside Daesh. They said that the AKP had seized power illegally with a "political coup," despite the fact that the party was defeated in Turkey's June general election.
"It is necessary that there be support for our youth, our women and our people, who are trying to realize the principle of local government in spite of the illegitimate, dictatorial, gangster state," wrote the KJK.
The statement condemned the torture and display of the body of Kurdish woman guerrilla Ekin Wan, calling it an attack not just on Kurdish women, but on the identity and dignity of all women.
"For women's movements and democratic groups struggling on the basis of women's liberation, in the face what has been done to our comrade Ekin, they need to center their demand for freedom," the KJK wrote.
