MUŞ - In Turkey, a delegation of human rights workers and lawyers has released a report on events in the town of Varto, where two residents and two civilians were killed recently during clashes.

Lawyers and Human Rights Association (İHD) workers formed a delegation to head to the town of Varto to investigate the events of August 16-17. According to the report, the killing and display of the naked body of YJA STAR woman guerrilla Kevser Eltürk (Ekin Wan) on August 10 sparked a strong sense of indignation and anger in the town.

The delegation called for the correct legal procedures to be followed in the case of the two civilians and two guerrillas killed in the clashes. The delegation, reporting that they had found pieces of human bodies and skulls at the site of the killing, reported that evidence indicates that police killed the individuals in an extrajudicial assassination.

The delegation also reported that the curfew declared in the city was designed to cover up events during the clashes. The cuts to electricity and other services meant the town was cut off from the outside world. In addition, half of the town lacked water for around 72 hours because of the trenches that had been dug and due to explosions.
