AMED - After JINHA journalists filed a police report about a car that followed them closely, it has emerged that the car belonged to police intelligence officers.
In April, three JINHA journalists (Asiye Tekin, Güler Can and Asiye Erdoğan) and a driver (Mahir Tekiner) set out for the Black Sea region to make news on women's problems in the region. As they returned, a car followed them closely across multiple provinces and through the streets of Diyarbakır. The journalists filed a police report.
Turkish government officials have responded to the report, saying that the vehicle belonged to intelligence officers. The letter, citing laws justifying the "gathering of information" to protect national security, announced that the case has been closed.
